Book Review - Wolf's Bane by Ash Krafton

Wolf's Bane (Demimonde, #3)
by Ash Krafton
Published 2014

370 Pages

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, and was eager to jump back into Sophie's world, where vampire's and werewolves abound. We do get back into the business of the demivampires in this third installment, but the book veers into entirely new territory... where rockstars and werewolves collide. As for Sophie, that's where things become stranger than ever.

Sophie, an advice columnist, and an oracle to the demivampires, is still longing for her lost love, Marek. As he began to evolve from a demivampire, and into something much more sinister he slipped away, leaving her lost and confused... and powerless. What point is it to be the oracle if you can't even save the one you love? She has now lost Marek forever... or has she? There may be a way to save him, but it could destroy her, and everything she's ever loved.

Now, at a rock concert, Sophie is summoned by the rock star Dierk Adeluf. Backstage, things get hot and heavy pretty quickly, and before she realizes what's happening she is bitten by a werewolf. But this is all part of a larger plan, as yet another supernatural force has determined her to be useful to their cause. As the days pass, her responsibilities toward the demivampires are put on hold. But Dierk stays right beside her, waiting... and wanting her to become his queen.

Sophie is surrounded by secrets and deception, and figuring out who to trust is only half the battle. She's trapped between worlds, and still sorting out who her true friends are, all while enduring changes happening from her werewolf bite. It's a lot to take in, especially since just a few years ago she was unaware of the supernatural elements all around her. But she's not ready to give up on her true love, Marek. The problem is, she might not have a choice.

This third installment has a certain appeal, especially if you love rock star romances. I was hoping for a story a bit more in line with the first two. Still, it shows Sophie's continued evolution in the world she is now very much a part of. Questions are answered, and loose ends are tied up in a satisfying way!

Book Review - The Demon Re-Born by Samantha Johns

The Demon Re-Born
(The Repentant Demon, #2)
by Samantha Johns
Published 2013
133 Pages

So, here I am, sitting in my leather chair, feet propped up on the ottoman... a beer on a small table adjacent to me, and my trusty gen3 iPad charged up and ready to display the best the internet has to offer. Do I b
rowse for comics? No, tonight I am reading the second book in the Repentant Demon Trilogy. It's shorter than the first, so I should be able to complete it in... three beers? I read better with beer. Please don’t ask why.

I can
state unequivocally that I enjoyed the first book. I have very fond memories of a new concept, whereby a demon wants to do good, and to prove himself worthy of God's love. So it should be understood that my anticipation runs high. Hence, the reason for my lackadaisical approach to this second installment.

At the end of book one, the demon Calumnius was transformed into a man, and given exactly one year to prove himself deserving of entering God’s kingdom. That’s where we start off in book two. Waking up in an unsavory place, with the utter disgust of being human, Calumnius struggles to understand his new body. Interestingly, the angel who transformed him gave him just what every newly minted human male needs: a perfect body, and the good looks of Superman (right down to the bluish-black hair, and a small curl at the forehead).

Growing up as a heterosexual male, I often dreamed of looking like Superman (and for the record, I absolutely do not look anything like the Man of Steel). What fun it would have been to be so terrific looking, and to pillage the forest of the female game. Fortunately, I didn't write this book, and that's not the direction this story takes us. Instead, the author takes the upper road, and creates a clever way to almost 'protect' Calumnius, now called Cal, from such diversions. Cal is reintroduced to Abigail (the human who was the seed of his desire for repentance and transformation), who shelters him while he explores his humanity. During the process, Cal feels all the emotions, bodily functions, and conflicts that make us who we are. And that is precisely what this book is about.

The author purposely slows down the narrative, whilst subtly prepping the reader for something more for the final chapter. And while Cal, as a human, has his intellect intact, it is the intellect of a demon... a demon who has watched humans, and existed for millennia
. As such, Cal has been given a special ability for understanding all languages, including those that are extinct or used only in very special sects. And it is this ability that drives the evolution of a secondary plot which, I assume, leads us into book three. I won’t give it away, but it falls within the realm of biblical underpinnings, and hints at a distinct message the author is sending.

This second installment is shorter than the first book in the series. It flows better, and relaxes the reader -- there weren’t any jolting surprises. And while at times it felt almost too slow, it gives the clear impression that there is far more to come. Three beers later, I can say that I enjoyed The Demon Re-Born.

Book Review - Hemlock by N.J. Layouni

Hemlock (Tales of a Traveler, #1)
by N.J. Layouni

Published 2014
401 Pages

Do you ever find yourself frustrated with characters that are unable to see or state the obvious, or who are incapable of relating to others? Well, that was not the case in this clever and well written tale! Hemlock is intelligent and original, with compelling characters that have depth and purpose. I was mesmerized
from start to finish!

When Martha finds herself stranded in a medieval world, she agrees to pose as the wife of a handsome stranger, Vadim, who promises to assist her in finding her way home. But as they set out on their journey, there are obstacles around every bend, and lessons to be learned along the way.

Martha is a headstrong, opinionated, and complex character who has no problem saying what's on her mind, or doing what she feels is the right thing to do. No shrinking violet here! Vadim is the male lead, who discovers Martha near a riverbank, and takes her in. He is used to leading others, and has a very dominant nature. And while he is a gentleman, nobody pushes him around, least of all a woman! But the undeniable sexual chemistry between these two characters leads to some interesting banter!

So, with Martha posing as his wife, Vadim returns home. His friends and neighbors slowly warm up to her and she, in turn, learns to appreciate and adapt to her new surroundings. But the Evil Earl has other plans. The town faces intimidation from the Earl and his minions, leading to another layer of action and suspense.

Hemlock has plenty of excitement and romance, and even with the cliffhanger I was hooked! I'm eager to read the next installment, and look forward to continuing on with the adventure!

Book Review - Veiled Target by Robin Bielman

Veiled Target (Veilers, #1)
by Robin Bielman
Published 2014
275 Pages

Ever since her fiancé was killed five years ago, Tess Damon has been on a mission to find his killer. She's closed herself off emotionally, and lives for vengeance. Tess is an assassin for a clandestine agency that tracks down Veilers -- supernatural creatures who live amongst the humans, and are known by only a few. But recently she's been distracted, and now she's botched two jobs. And her boss isn't happy. The next assignments will be defining for Tess... in more ways than one.

Hugh Langston is a wolfen shifter, and a pack leader to a nearly extinct pack in Los Angeles. In addition to his wolfen role, Hugh works in search and rescue, and has a natural drive to be in charge of operations. So, when his second in command goes missing, Hugh is determined to find him. What he doesn't expect is to be working alongside an assassin from the very agency that works to eliminate Veilers. But Tess is different. Isn't she? He knows she's deadly, but somehow he trusts her. And the physical attraction between them is undeniable. Still, Tess remains in the dark as to Hugh's true identity... and Hugh doesn't know that his name is next on her hit list.

Hugh is protective and powerful, and such a sexy badass that I couldn't wait to get to the love scenes. And the super sexy scenes are worth the wait! Tess is a strong character, and likable for the most part. I did get annoyed with her indecisiveness, but it was justified in the story.

Overall, this is a good start to an exciting, and well written urban fantasy series that I will want to keep up with!

Featured Author Interview - Vincent Annunziato

Featured Author
Vincent Annunziato

About the Author

Vincent Robert Annunziato published his debut novel, Status the Game, in 2014. He was born on Long Island, New York. He graduated Sachem High School, and received a B.S. Degree from Hofstra University in Television Science. Vincent spent several years in Hollywood working for various production companies. He eventually wound up landing a job with the government, marrying a wonderful woman, and raising three beautiful children. After thinking the dream of becoming a writer had passed him by, Vincent wrote his first novel on an Amazon Kindle HD tablet while commuting to work.

Status the Game

Now Available!
Read our review here

Vincent was kind enough to join us for an interview! We are excited to learn more about his novel, and to hear about any future projects he may be up to!

MBB: How long have you been writing, and what were your earliest inspirations?

Vincent: I started out trying to make it as a Screen Writer/Director when I graduated college in 1987. Things didn’t work out the way I thought and I wound up falling in love, raising a family and taking a hiatus from all things entertainment. Now some 26 years later I’m writing novels. I will say that writing never left me throughout my hiatus, it simply nudged me very patiently to get going.

MBB: What approach do you take to begin writing?

Vincent: I am a bit of an artist cougar and I allow my inspirations to carry me through the first act of the book. I spend the most time here and try to really iron out the characters, plots and sub plots. I am very particular to pacing. I usually listen to top 40 songs while I write and manage to not hear a word they are singing.

MBB: Please tell us a little about your book.

Vincent: Status The Game was my first entry into writing novels and it has been very successful for me. The novel was quite challenging to write, since I had to work between two worlds, the gaming world and the real world and make sure that they intertwined. I use the tag-line “The game that is too dangerous to stop playing.”

Ultimately, readers will find the novel to be very contemporary and I believe quite thrilling. It really depicts our generation of internet savvy gamers and socialites and how they interact. You’ll find themes in here that even the adults can relate to such as: Inappropriate relationships between teachers and students, cyber bullying, guns in schools, etc.

MBB: Did your book require any special research or preparation?

Vincent: This question is more associated to the conceptualization of Status and the answer is no. But an interesting point is the way in which Status is designed. I tried to break some ground by replacing chapters with game rules. So when a reader reads it, they will feel like they are learning about the game as the main character is. I thought it was a nice way to really pull the reader in. Some people have thought it jarring at first, but then they appear to get swept into the story.

MBB: What do you like most about writing in the Young Adult genre?

Vincent: I love Young Adult. The readers at this level want to get transported to other worlds where they can get lost in a writer’s playground. There is a certain innocence and anxiety of this age group that translates very well in the characters I like to deal with.

MBB: What advice do you have for other writers who are just starting out?

Vincent: First - Get a good editor! Make sure you do a development edit and then have the copy edit done. Spend some time straightening the story out.
Second – Get a great cover design! Covers sell. I don’t care what people say. If you can't attract readers, you will get passed over. Third – Read up on marketing novels.

MBB: What are your plans for future projects?

Vincent: I am currently working on 33 Degrees, which is a dystopian future where the ice age has hit and the second civil war has hit. It will publish in 2014 and my daughter absolutely loves it (she’s 16)!

MBB: If you were stranded on a deserted island with all the published works of just one author, who would it be?

Vincent: Tough, tough choice. I will have to go with Mary Shelley – I want to discover the mind of a young woman who wrote such a classic at the age of 15 and in so short a time. I have been enamored with the story of Frankenstein

MBB: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Vincent: Status will be on sale from 7/23/14 – 7/26/14!

Thank you, Vincent, for taking the time to answer our questions! We loved your debut novel, and wish you the all the best in your future writing endeavors!

~ Anniversary Giveaway ~

In our exclusive interview with Jask Tao, from Lindsay J. Pryor's Blood Torn -- the third installment in the Blackthorn series -- we learn a secret about Jask that no one else knows! For the sake of spoilers, the interview was conducted prior to the events in Blood Torn.

What is your most notable characteristic?
Jask Tao: I’m one of the rare lycans on the cusp of controlling my allergy to the lunar cycle without needing our herbs to suppress it. My advancement in developing my skills was halted by the regulations coming into being and the new global order being put in place. Now that we’re under such close monitoring, I have no option but to use our traditional methods to control my allergy. If I change now and get seen doing so, my pack will suffer.
What brings you the greatest happiness in life?

Jask Tao: Watching my pack forget they’re confined in the compound in Blackthorn and instead feel like they’re free. It often happens when we’re playing our training sports in the grounds of the compound. For just that short time, they forget what’s going on beyond the walls and the threat looming over us every day. It’s why I encourage it so much – not just to perfect our skills in case an attack ever does happen, but to give them that sense of freedom so many of us remember before us third species were outed and the humans took over.
What do you fear?
Jask Tao: I fear that the authorities – whether the Third Species Control Division or the Global Council who run it – will finally go back on their word and descend into Blackthorn in an attempt to annihilate us. I fear what that will lead to because we will retaliate. So far, the authorities haven’t seen a fraction of what we are truly capable of. I will protect my pack whatever it takes.
How would you define a perfect love?
Jask Tao: I would define a perfect love as being each other’s strength as well as each other’s weakness – in all the right places.
Tell us a secret about you that no one else knows.
Jask Tao: I slept with Arana Malloy (Kane’s sister) during the time of my downward spiral. No one else in my pack knows – not even my beta, Corbin. Kane, her brother, certainly doesn’t know.
When I told Caitlin that Arana despised lycans – that she would never go near them let alone arrange to meet them for some sexual experiment – it was true. I know it because she’d already been there and done that with me. Despite what the authorities accused her of, she had no intention of going near another lycan.

About the Book - Blood Torn
‘Vampires might bite, honey, but lycans tear.’
BLOOD TORN (Blackthorn Series #3)
Jask Tao, lycan leader, rules his pack with absolute dedication and demands the same loyalty in return. In the world of Blackthorn, where respect is a rare commodity, Jask has earned his – few dare to cross him, and fewer survive to tell the tale.

When he captures Sophia, a rare serryn witch – whose blood is lethal to vampires – Jask knows just how valuable she can be. Despite her fiery nature, he also can’t shake the feelings that she rouses in him – feelings that he thought died along with Ellen, his mate.
Sophia knows she has to escape from Jask’s lycan compound – and fast. Inheriting her sister’s serryn powers can only mean one thing – that her family is at risk. She’ll have to get past the dangerously attractive Jask first but, scarred by memories of her mother’s murder, Sophia won’t evergive up.

Sparks fly between Jask and Sophia but, as both her family and the pack come under threat, they might just need each other if they, and their loved ones, are going to stay alive…
In this thrillingly sensual novel, Lindsay J. Pryor returns to the shadowy dystopian world of Blackthorn, where tensions are rising, the risks are high, and the most powerful loves are formed in the face of great danger.

Say hello to two ladies of Dove Creek, Remington Hart and Jocelyn Benton. Remi is the main character in the Dove Creek Chronicles by H. Anne Henry, and Joss is one of her closest friends and allies. Eavesdrop on a little of their “girl talk” as they ask each other questions from a list they found in a magazine.

Joss: “What’s your greatest indulgence? Besides sci-fi movies, because we all know that.”

Remi: “Besides sci-fi movies? Red Draws, of course.”
Joss: “Yup, thought so. Still don’t know how you drink ‘em, though.”
Remi: “There’s just something about ice cold beer and tomato juice in the summer. They slip right down when it starts to feel like somebody lit the fires of Hell in our back yard.”
Joss: “I’d still rather have a strawberry margarita any day.”
Remi: “Okay, here’s a good one. What traits do you find important in a friend?”
Joss: “Oh, you know, the biggies . . . Loyalty, honesty, a willingness to let me overhaul your hair, make-up, and wardrobe.”
Remi: “So, me.”
Joss: “You’re a quick one. The Force is strong with you.”
Remi: “Be still my heart.”
Joss: “Your turn. What’s your most notable characteristic?”
Remi: “I’m stubborn.”
Joss: “Lady, that’s a disturbing understatement. You’re downright bull-headed.”
Remi: “Moo.”
Remi: “What’s your most meaningful possession?”
Joss: “Your brother.”
Remi: “Ugh. No. Just, no.”
Joss: “Alright, alright. My car. It’s the first thing I bought for myself after my divorce, and it’s the first brand new car I’ve ever had.”
Joss: “Last one . . . What brings you the greatest happiness in life? And you’d better not say killing demons.”
Remi: “No, that just brings me satisfaction, not happiness.”
Joss: “So what does?”
Remi: “Well, it’s kinda related to killing demons, but... Being Amasai. Not because of what we do, but because of who we are. We’re a family.”
Joss: “Now don’t go getting sentimental on me.”
Remi: “What? You gonna get misty-eyed? ‘Cause I don’t have any tissues.”

Character Interview - Prince Landon from Son of Dragons by Andrea R. Cooper

Character Interview
Prince Landon from Son of Dragons
by Andrea R. Cooper

Enter to Win Ebook Prizes from Andrea R. Cooper
& Other Amazing Authors!

~ Anniversary Giveaway

Prince Landon has been sheltered and kept inside the palace walls his entire life (except for the times as a child when he snuck out).

During the novel, he struggles with his duty to marry his betrothed (whom he has never seen and whose letters leave him feeling empty) and his growing love of Mirhana an Elvin warrior who slays the undead.

Prince Landon has agreed to be interviewed today by his author,

1. What is your most notable characteristic?

Prince Landon: I am loyal to my friends regardless of their social class. Actually, I feel more comfortable and can be myself when I don’t have to worry about the people around me placating me because of my position.
2. What traits do you find important in a lifetime partner?
Prince Landon: I love women who are passionate about helping others. She must be strong and kind. Someone who can challenge me intellectually, and not too bad with a sword. Someone whose passion for life and love rivals my own.

3. What brings you the greatest happiness in life?
Prince Landon: Being free from a life of sovereignty. Even if it is fleeting. Free from responsibilities as Prince. Just to lie in the rolling grass as the wind brings the scent of pine and honeysuckle with Mirhana in my arms.
Even something as simple as bathing naked in the river with her and seeing the passion in her eyes as we wash each other brings me more happiness than I think I deserved. But I will hold onto us fiercely.

4. What is your biggest regret?
Prince Landon: My biggest regret is agreeing to my father’s last treaty of a marriage between me and Kavith before he was struck by an illness that left him unable to speak or move.
I didn’t realize how hard it would be to not love someone yet be potentially bound to them forever. Especially when true love sneaks into your life when you didn’t plan for it.

5. Tell us a secret about you that no one else knows.
Prince Landon: I have to keep calm at all times. Often, I joke to ease the tension of a situation. I cannot allow myself to get upset. When I get angry, bad things happen. Once, when I rode out with Gillespie, he fell off his horse and was dragged for miles. I remember screaming his name and racing my horse to stop his. My friend lost consciousness.
The next thing I remember, we were at the palace doors and I was naked and covered in blood. Pieces of Gillespie’s horse were strewn across the grounds where he had been dragged. My mother told me it was a Griffin. She and father had killed it when we didn’t come home after a few hours. My own horse was so frightened by the encounter it wouldn’t come near me. I gave it as a gift to Gillespie to replace his horse.
Another time, I had a nightmare when I stayed at a friend’s mansion and woke to smoke and the entire room on fire. I guess I must have fallen asleep before dousing the candles. But after those two incidents, my parents restricted my time outside the palace.

Shelby: No contest. I wish I’d made up with Mum before it was too late.
Cady: I know. [hugs her sister] But she understands, I bet.
Shelby: I hope so. [sniffs] What about you?
Cady: Putting things off, maybe. I mean, some things you have to put off until the time is right, but otherwise, it’s better to get on with it. Even the scary stuff.
Shelby: So true, grasshopper. Okay, give me the list. [grabs it from Cady] Next question: how would you define a perfect love?
Cady: Ooh, deep and meaningful. I suppose, where you each know the other’s truth—good and bad—and love each other anyway. Also, give me a scorching lust to love ratio. [fans self]
Shelby: Oh my God, you and Reid... seriously, it’s revolting. [fake-gags]
Cady: [shrugs] Can’t help it if we’ve got it going on...
Shelby: Whatever. It’s just lucky you guys are so great.
Cady: Wait, is that an actual compliment?
Shelby: Meh. [waves it away] I must be getting sentimental, after everything we went through together.
Okay, last question: what’s your greatest indulgence? Probably shoes, for me. What about you? [eyes Cady] Do not say Reid.
Cady: [grins] Fine. Hmm... it’d be a toss-up between the maple-glazed apple bacon donuts from Dynamo Donuts... and those huge Mission burritos they have here. The food in San Francisco is so good.
Shelby: Seriously, how are you not the size of a house by now?
Cady: [raises an eyebrow] It’s all the exercise...
Shelby: Stop! I’ve heard enough. Let’s go for a donut.
Cady: Sounds good to me!

~ Anniversary Giveaway ~

Mitch has been in love with Skylar almost his entire life. They were friends for a long time and then became more. Then, something devastating happened that separated them and caused her to leave town. Five years later, she’s back, but living with another man. Mitch has vowed to redeem himself and win her back.

Mitch visited my blog, and I had the pleasure of interviewing him! Thank you, Penelope Ward, for arranging the meeting!

1. W
hat is your most notable characteristic?
Mitch: I’m fiercely loyal and I love passionately. I guess, that’s two.
2. What brings you the greatest happiness in life?
Mitch: Spending time with Skylar alone when it’s just the two of us. When we were younger, we used to play this game while we played basketball in the court outside of my house. We’d tell each other secrets. Then, as we got older, quiet time transformed into other activities. ;-)
3. What is your biggest regret?
Mitch: My biggest regret is a decision I made once that changed the course of my life, causing Skylar, the love of my life, to leave town. However, I now see that out of every trying situation, there are lessons learned and things that came out of it that were also blessings.
4. How would you define a perfect love?
Mitch: A perfect love needs no definition and knows no boundaries. It’s just a complete feeling of fulfillment in every way and an endless fear of losing that person, your other half.
5. Tell us a secret about you that no one else knows.
Mitch: Something peculiar happens every time Skylar and I make love. Skylar knows what it is. I guess if you think about it, it’s kind of funny. You’ll know too if you read Penelope’s book.

Dhellia Hunt from The Mystical Witch Series was interviewed by the author of the series, April M. Reign. Read what Dhellia has to say, then enter our giveaway!

AMR: What personal achievement are you most proud of?
Dhellia: I'm only twenty-one years old, but I'd have to say I'm most proud of the fact that I've been able to hide from my father, the king of the underworld, and avert his hell demons. It's an accomplishment I am extremely proud of. I just hope I can continue to thwart his efforts.
AMR: What is your greatest indulgence?
Dhellia: Oh that's easy. I have two. Rice crispy treats. I love them and can't get enough of them. I actually get upset when Gavin tries to shove one of his blended health drinks down my throat. The other is Quinn. The way he looks at me sends a warmth down my spine and throughout my body. I've never felt anything like it before. I indulge in his handsome look as much as I can. *winks*
AMR: What do you fear?
Dhellia: That my father will get all the keys together in one place and open Hell on Earth. It's in his plan. It's the reason that he searches for me high and low. I can't stomach the underworld and will do whatever I can to keep human's safe. I feel it's my job--my honor to protect all these wonderful people.
AMR: What traits do you find important in a friend?
Dhellia: I've never had friends until now. Not many people want to befriend the daughter of Satan. Then my brother found me this cool place to live upstairs (earth) and with the new house came two awesome roommates. Gavin is the powerful young wizard who put a cloaking spell on me to keep me hidden from my father. He's witty, smart, a bit nerdy, but loyal to the end. Jonas is a vampire. The poor kid is allergic to human blood. But what I love about him is his kind heart. He'd put his own life on the line for Gavin and me. I'm quite lucky to have such amazing friends. We watch out for each other and we won't let the other fall no matter what it takes. I guess that's the trait I find most important.
About the Book - Witch Road to Take
(The Mystical Witch Series, book #1)
Dhellia has run away from home to escape her undesirable duties as princess of the underworld. A three-month road trip “upstairs” convinces her human-witch side that Earth is where she belongs.

Unfortunately, her father isn't seeing things her way. Her brother, who is a soul catcher
and her protector, snatches her away and hides her in the apartment of a bumbling wizard who casts a cloaking spell on her, and a geeky vampire rock ‘n roll singer who is allergic to human blood.

Dhellia gets a job in a law office and suddenly, her future is full of possibilities—that is, until a collision of fate and destiny create the perfect storm, which puts her and her friends in peril. Once again on the run from her father's minions, Dhellia and her friends must find a way to survive while she discovers the powers that lie within her.

Dhellia is a funny, fresh and sassy, fast-paced series about a young woman whose birthright is the underworld—she’s mad as Hell about it, and is determined to use her powers to beat her father at his own game!

Book Review - Laika in Lisan by Maron Anrow

Laika in Lisan
by Maron Anrow
Published 2014
251 Pages

Laika in Lisan is an intriguing fantasy tale with an airtight plot, believable characters, and an exciting element of romance. A true gem, and a pleasure to read!

Laika, a recent college graduate, is invited to assist in the early formation of a university in Lisan, a country that is known for its isolation from the rest of the world. Recognizing the rare opportunity at hand, Laika jumps at the chance. But as she sets out through the mountainous, remote region strange events abound. Soon, she discovers that nothing is as it seems... and that her life is about to change forever.

I admired Laika for her independence, intellect, and sense of adventure. When she encounters obstacles and ethical dilemmas it's easy to empathize with her, and to ponder what you would do in her situation. And then there's Rodya -- handsome, intelligent, and full of intrigue. Having slipped into Laika's life and heart in a rather unusual way, the stage is set for a rare, heartfelt, and refreshingly sweet romance!

The secondary characters are fully developed, and play an integral role in the story. The world building is exceptional. Overall, the author does a fantastic job of reinforcing the setting by weaving in subtle details in a way that appears effortless. The end result is a well-paced, original, and absorbing tale of mystery, suspense, and self discovery. A must read!
