I cannot believe I waited so long to review this book. It moved me, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and it shocked me. But I could not put it down! And I'm so glad because (and you must trust me on this) you will love it to the end! And despite the cliffhanger, it ended in such a good way! I cannot wait until the next book comes out! If you're intrigued, you should be. This is an amazing, over-the-top good read!
Pierce's looks keep everyone away, which is how she likes it. Coming from an unimaginable place, she is on the run with a child that she has sworn to protect. You might be wondering what she is running from. Well, they escaped a vampire compound where they both lived for almost a decade. But here is the catch: They are not on the run from the vampires. No, they are on the run from the vampire in-training that was in charge of the compound. And not for the reasons you might think! I was completely blindsided by the reveal, and it was so well executed, that I just want to gush about it! But you will have to read it for yourself!
To make everything even more complicated, Pierce has severe social disorders that she tries to play off, which is a difficult endeavor when you have two people residing with you ... in your own head. Then, just when you think it can't go in any more directions, it does! This is a unique book with plenty of surprises! Five stars, no question! A must read!
