Book Review - One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable, #1)

So I bought this one on special not really knowing what to expect. When I started reading I discovered it was New Adult, which is not my favorite genre, but I really liked the characters  so I kept reading. I'm glad I did. Wow, loved this one! This book could have been run of the mill average very easily because it is a story that has been told a million times. Poor girl meets rich guy, he falls for her and yada yada. However, this book has twists and turns, some you can just see coming, and others you couldn't have predicted. I fell in love with both the girl and boy in this story, almost equally.

Drew Callahan has a secret. He is a football legend in this college town and has everything going for him on the outside. Golden, beautiful boy, but he is damaged beyond what anyone could imagine. He offers Fable Maguire, a 20 year old local waitress and known by several of his teammates (if you know what I mean) a lot of cash to be his pretend girlfriend for a weeklong visit to his parents home in Carmel. Fable needs the cash! She takes care of her teenage brother because her mom is too drunk to care. She knows the rumors Drew has probably heard are what caused him to proposition her, but she doesn't care. This money will put her months ahead and she needs it.

Somewhere along the way, Drew lets her in and starts to need her. It is hard to tell who is rescuing who. Can they survive their past and move toward a future? Well, you won't find out in this one! It is a cliff hanger, but fear not the second book of the series is out. And I am well into the second half ... don't get ahead of yourself. Read the first one, then I will let you know about the second. Great Read!
