Book Review - On Demon Wings by Karina Halle

On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5)
by Karina Halle
Published 2012
454 Pages

After a falling out with Dex, and in an effort to rebuild her life, we find Perry working at a coffee house in Portland, Oregon, pining over Dex, and existing as best she can. But she doesn’t have a lot of time to consider the loss, as she is forced to confront a growing disturbance that appears to surround her very being.

Strange sounds from under the bed, blackouts, and waking up in a hospital with messages from beyond are too much to bear, even for someone as accustomed to the paranormal as Perry. She reconnects with Maximus (whose motives are always in question), and we get to know her little sister—a hipster teenager who is very different from big sister, Perry. But when danger hits too close to home, she'll need help from her former partner, Dex, in spite of the struggles that tore them apart.

On Demon Wings definitely had its scary moments! I did miss Dex through the better part of the book. Still, the story provides meaningful context to the complexities of Perry and Dex’s developing relationship. Overall, a good read!
