Book Review - Ashes of Midnight by Lara Adrian

Ashes of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #6)
by Lara Adrian
Published 2009
370 Pages

In Ashes of Midnight, we travel to Germany to meet Andreas Reichen, a Darkhaven breed vampire, and Claire Roth, his longtime love.

Now a breedmate to Andreas’s enemy, Claire is caught between her feelings for Andreas, and her loyalties to her mate. We learn the history of Andreas’s hatred toward Claire’s mate—reasons that are connected to Andreas’s loss of his loved ones, and the demise of an entire Darkhaven community.

But as we travel between two continents, darker mysteries are revealed, as we discover Andreas’s powers … powers that Andreas himself, as well as the breed warriors who are now involved, are only beginning to understand.

I enjoyed this book, and loved getting to know the broken and tormented Andreas on his path to redemption. I enjoyed learning about the history that led Claire to Andreas, torn by a past that was derailed, and tortured by a love long lost. I wanted a little more of the warriors, but still enjoyed the focus on the Darkhaven.
